reality? where is it

Last weekend my husband and I had one of those discussions.  And in the midst of it I had told him my perspective of life and he replied, "we all have our own reality".  Well it has come back to me several times over the course of the week.
Words, beliefs, experiences, dreams probably do strongly influence our reality.  So then what is reality?  Does anyone really know?  I decided to do a google search and see what different ideas were quotable for ponder.

How reluctantly the mind consents to reality!  ~Norman Douglas

This one rings true for me now.  So many times my perspective of things, life, going on around me is not as bad as I perceive it nor is it as good as I feel certain that it should be for all concerned.  Words others say and the way the are taken can so often be almost a different language.  In particular men and women say and hear words so differently.  Not all but many do which leads to my next quote:

I have a very firm grasp on reality!  I can reach out and strangle it any time!  ~Author Unknown

Great appreciation for times when words  are at least the same color and amazed when couples live in the same reality.

friday flash 55

You can make the funniest little friends in the parking lot…
(when there aren’t any weirdoes around)
I was feeling sad, alone, and misunderstood.
Wal-Mart aisles can often be therapy.
A smile, a quick comment about all the choices folks have today,
Led to laugh and life was ok again!

Not where I was going to go ~ oldies..

This morning I woke and said, "I wanna blog about something other than dumb stuff."  And I had every intention of doing just that ~ but when I was looking for the picture I wanted to use to inspire myself while I listen to my Ipod (right there on the right of my blog)  well this picture popped out at me.
This trip was with my oldest sister (14 years older) and her husband and her two kids.  Her kids are really more like my brother and sister but  as you can see, physically we couldnt be more different.  The boy is 4 years younger than me and the girl is 3 years younger.
The husband in the back ground (only 15 or 16 years older than me) is pretty pissed that they had to bring me along, "what if people think she is ours?"

This little trip was from Nashville, Tennessee to Atlanta, Georgia was my first vacation.  We went to Six Flags Over Georgia about  1968ish.  I thought I was having fun but learned later on in the trip that I really was not..

It didnt help that I was chubby, getting zits.
and the beginnings of boobs  The EX brother in law had no problem teasing me and allowing his son and daughter to do the same.    Hey he was the youngest of 8 brothers and had to marry at the age of 17 so I am not going to give him too much grief but at the same time he had as big an impact on my esteem as say my own father...(who really doesnt deserve mention here in my blog)

We bought sailors hats and had our names engraved on them to wear around the park.  As we were getting on the "sky" coup thingie that lifts you up so you can "tour" the park, well my brother in law stops me and says hey Jennifer, maybe you better ride in one by yourself.  Yep that is what he said.  Then i realized as my sister verbally tore into him that I really wasnt having fun and wished I hadn't gone with them.

We also stopped at a trout farm on the way back to Nashville, and the goal was to NOT catch a fish!  I didn't go with them anymore after that trip.  Wasnt asked to but I wouldnt have anyway.
My sister divorced him after 10 years of marriage and moved in with me and our mother.  Thus my niece and nephew became even more entwined into my life.  We are very different still but have lots of shared memories of being raised in such chaos that we thought everyone lived like us!  It was so surprising to me when we discovered that nope, there weren't too many families like ours around.

One other time that same SOB said, "Jennifer you are a beauty waiting to blossom".  ha, creep!
on a side note the dad, Mac Gayden Sr is a musician in Nashville, and was big stuff in the music industry as a sessions player.  He and his children will assure you that he is a star (waiting to happen LOL).  But the good news is that his son in the picture worked really hard to build an adult relationship with his dad and has succeeded in get his dad's thumbs up on his guitar playing.  So they now play (guitars ya know) in a band called Zenphonic.

Not promoting them, just info on a little band .

And well now maybe I will post what I meant to
